Handwriting is an important aspect of daily life. Whether it is at school, at work, or at home each of us uses handwriting to express ourselves and our thoughts each and every day. Did you know handwriting development can begin as early as 1 year old?
– 1 ½ years | Fisted grasp (movement from whole arm)
– 3 years | Palmar grasp (more control of shoulder and arm holds crayon/pencil with fingers)
– 4 years | Quadrupod grasp or Static tripod grasp (wrist gives crayon/pencil movement and fingers don’t have independent movement)
– 6 years | Dynamic tripod (fingers and wrist move independently allowing precise writing)
