Benefits of Muscle Strengthening and Endurance Training

We all need muscle strength to help us perform our day to day activities. It is important to not only be active during our day but to add activities to help us build up our strength and endurance!

We describe muscle strength as the amount of force our body puts out to move or lift something. Endurance is how often that activity can be performed. Here are some benefits and ways to help both muscle strength and endurance.

Some benefits to building strength can include:

  1. Reducing the risk of injury
  2. Building stronger bones and muscles
  3. Making daily activities easier without getting as tired
  4. Allowing you to try new things you may not have done before!

Some ways you can help increase your strength and endurance:

  1. Start off small! No need to add an entire gym routine to do weight training, start with a few arm or leg exercises, perhaps after you do a few stretches so your muscles are looser
  2. Remember to use weights that are appropriate for you or you can use resistance bands too
  3. Body weight exercises are great if you don’t have any equipment; exercises like squats, push ups, lunges, etc. are excellent ways to increase strength
  4. By slowly increasing the amount of reps or sets you will help build up your muscle endurance so you can eventually add more weight to your routine!
