We use our hands for a wide variety of tasks throughout the day. Weakness in the hands can often result in struggles with poor handwriting or zipping and buttoning their jackets. Here are a few fun activities to help your child with hand strength!
- Building with Legos or Duplo blocks
- Picking up small objects, such as pom poms or cotton balls, with clothespins
- Swinging from the monkey bars or climbing ladders and rock walls at the playground
- Playing with play doh, putty, or clay- rolling, squishing, pinching, and stretching it
- Squeezing out glue for crafts, or squeezing frosting tubes to decorate treats
- Wringing out sponges and spraying squirt bottles
- Playing tug of war
- Squeezing stress balls and squishy fidgets
